It all started when…
Living Word Memphis was founded in March 2010 by Pastor Derek Talbird. He personally led a group of young adults from the University of Memphis and the local Memphis area to Jesus Christ. They received the gifts of speaking in tongues, was Holy Spirit baptized, and became an army for God. After hosting a 90-day revival in 2014, suddenly Apostle Derek Talbird and Living Word Memphis became a hub for revival for not only the city but for the Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi region. His impact has transformed Living Word Memphis to a city Church that impacts the community at-large.

Derek Talbird is a skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant. He has medical privileges at several prominent hospitals in the Memphis, TN area.
Education
He was born in New York City but raised in Bethel Grove in Memphis, TN. He entered the U.S. Navy after graduation, trained in Virginia, and was later on stationed in San Diego, California where he continued to develop his skills to reach God’s people.
Ministry
Derek Talbird was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the age of 19. This significant event took place at The Garden of Prayer Church in San Diego, California on February 22, 1992 by Elder Joseph R Hall. His baptism in the Holy Ghost provided evidence of speaking in tongues. He was Ordained as an Elder by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in Los Angeles, California.He served in several ministries before being called by God to be set over a flock.
On March 28, 2010 Living Word Ministries held its first service and God has been confirming His ministry with many signs and wonders. In 2014, Apostle Matthew L. Stevenson of the GATE Network of Churches became overseer. In 2016, Pastor Derek Talbird was Commissioned as Apostle under the direction of Apostle Matthew Stevenson, III. Apostle Derek's ministry goals include building a healthy church and spiritually impacting the Southern Region of the United States. Apostle Talbird is married to Pastor Chanielle Talbird.
